COLIN’S BOOKS     STAR WARS SHIP PRINTS     INSIDE STORIES    ABOUT       HOME

HOW THE STAR WARS SHIPS WERE CREATED
In 1974, Colin met George Lucas through his friend Hal Barwood. George came to Colin’s home and spent considerable time studying the kitbashed models that Colin had created to demonstrate a more effective process for model building. While George was trying to nail down a studio to support his film, Colin was busy designing the ships for the original Star Wars movie.. Below are sets of prints depicting the evolution of the ships from a concept sketch to final model.

 THE CREATION OF THE X-WING … SETS 1 & 2

The X-Wing was the first ship designed by Colin. After mulling it over for 3 days Colin had an inspiration for the X-Wing design as he remembered darts being thrown in an English pub.  This culminated in the creation of one of the most memorable ships in the Star Wars series.
The first 2 SETS  depict the stages of develpment  resulting in the first X-Wing model.
